Change of Community Liaison Manager
Peter 'Tyson' Calistas is going to move to New Zealand with his wife and is resigning from the job. The person who is going to replace Cal is Samantha 'Satine' Russell, a very good choice in my opinion :)

I would like to thank Cal for everything he has done to this community. Allowing it to grow from a small (~40 000) community to huuge almost fanatical community of over 120 000 (active newsletter subscribers) members.

Ps. Cal, I will own greenwater empire ;)

The Army
I've been moved to reserve from finnish army mmorpg, this means I'll have more time with you guys. Exca is also back from the army. So maybe this site goes "alive" again... We will see that in the next few months...

The army - mmorpg
Aaah, sorry I'm so sorry I haven't been able to write about the finnish army mmorpg... But there have been more important things around lately.

...Argh, who am I trying to lie to..I've haven't been able to write because I've been playing finnish army mmorpg so much. So, what's going on now when my basic training course is behind?

Well, nothing much. During the last week, I spent 6 days in hospital for having a fever and a flu. I almost went crazy there since day 4 because there was absolutely nothing to do except to read books or watch tv, which is extremely boring after you've seen the magasines/books they have to offer.

But now I'm back in good condition, ready to wire some phones and make connectivity tests ;)

New Dev. Chats
There were 2 new dev. chats last night. "Will most of the people for Beta 0.5 be hand picked from active/long time fans? Or will they be chosen completly at random? [Calistas2] mostly random but with some geographical and system spec selection as we really want people who are going to be online while we are at work for beta0.5" You can find both Dev. Chats here. http://community.codemasters.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=31140

DE Beta is on the Horizon
Hello! My name is Talonder, and I will be reporting on Dragon Empires while Exca plays the Finnish Army MMORPG. As many of you know, the Dragon Empires beta is rapidly approaching. In 2 weeks beta 0.5 will be announced, and soon after beta 1 will be released. A total of 3,200 people will be in the DE beta 1. Keep your fingers cross and you might get lucky. Till next time, stay healthy, and let the challenge of battle always be in your favor. Talonder

2 weeks...
Woohaa. Gamemasters introduced us some pretty kewl weapons last week. I now have ability to disarm light machine gun (firing rate 1000 bullets per minute!) in 15 seconds, and then build it back to perfect condition in 40s.

They also made us familiar with a rocket launcher called KES, that sweet launcher can pierce 30cm of steel! During the next month, we get to test these weapons with live ammunition.

All players have now been tested in shooting skill. I think one of the developers watched us shooting and then checked whether our shots were good or not, I got 86 points out of 100. Which is good for a beginner. After the next 6 weeks, the basic training should be over and by then, all players will be assigned to different positions; going to train to be a gamemaster or even a developer (if one is good enough). I think I'm aiming to be a communications soldier. As I've no time to attend gamemaster course in this mmorpg, it lasts too long and is physically and mentally very hard course to attend to.

The physics engine in this mmorpg is so awesome. When I was in the live ammunition field, I saw shells bouncing off the floor just like in real life! Also the textures are ultra-sharp. And what comes to sounds, damn, one can hear those bullets hitting the other side of the field. Game engine seems to be so real, I wonder if future games will have the same engine as this mmorpg...

Well, back to army now. Once you get addicted, there's no way to turn back.

Message from the army
It's been quite nice staying here in the army, now I'm going to share you some of my stories:

Day 1:

Today we found out where we will live for the next 8 weeks, we also got to meet our team mates. I was shocked by the lack of weapons we had when we received our first pack of items we're going to need every day here in the army. First day was busy, just like in any mmorpg.

Day 2:

Hurray for early wakeups. I didn't sleep at all during first night, just rolled around the bed all the time. During second day, we boosted our stamina by marching to the military restaraunt and back to our group appartement. I think I'm going to be good in this mmorpg.

Day 3:

Have to go, been busy. First time I reached computer. Nights are good. We got our weapons, but our skill isn't high enough to shoot em. Tomorrow we will learn how to disarm and re-arm those pieces of mass destruction. This mmorpg is coming better all the time.

In the army... now
I am going to the army tomorrow for 6, 9 or 12 months and can't update the site very often for that time. I get some weekend leaves and try to keep the site updated with newsletters and most important news.

If anyone would like to post news while I'm gone, please e-mail me to exca@dragonempires.info. It might take me few weeks before I get to answer any emails though. So please be patient.

Thanks to everybody who have visited this site. I promise that after my service is over, I will make this one of the best sites for DE information. (Or at least I try)
