I managed to get a little interview with the Dragonempires developing team. Here's the questions asked and below you can find the answers.

1. Tell something about yourself and your place on the dev team briefly.
2. What do you think about Dragon Empires?
3. Do you play any mmorpg games? If yes what and with what name? (optional)
4. Any tips on when the game is going to be in beta? ;)
5. If you could be an animal what would you be?

Scott Cowie

1. I've been at Codemasters for nearly 4 years - started in QA and i've been working my way up the ladder ever since. On Dragon Empires i'm the Senior Level Designer - so myself and the other level designers are in charge of 'the world' - coastlines, mountains, city placements, dungeon placements, monster placements- i.e. What goes where and why....its not as exciting as it sounds though. Generally, i'm a cheery, light-hearted person who everyone loves....... not really, i'm a miserable, cynical git, and I love it.
2. Its the best thing EVER!
3. Nope, beta'd DAOC for a bit (in the name of research), played OU for the 'free month' period - but got sick to death of being killed by farmyard pigs. I can't afford to play MMORPG games, and my net connection at home is crap.
4. When it's bloody ready.... so stop asking.
5. A big, fat, lazy monkey..... so no change there then.

Jonathan Attfield

1. Hi, I'm Jon Attfield (nickname Jona), I head up the server development team, and am second to Bryan Black, Lead Programmer. I also design and build all the AI in the system, including monsters, and npcs.
2. It's GREAT!!! Honest....
No, really its got really original gameplay, the graphics are gorgeous, and of course the AI kicks ass.
3. Not strictly MMORPG, but multiplayer on-line yes, Counter-Strike, UT, etc. and lots of RPG, Morrowind, Neverwinter Nights, Baldur's Gate series, Diablo (all incarnations), Planescape, Icewind Dale, Dungeon Siege..... Lots of P & P roleplay as well, D&D 3rd, Call of Cthulu, Warhammer, Hunter The Rackoning, Vampire....
4. When its ready.
5. If only real animals then a cat of some sort, probably a house car, nice easy life.....
If fictional then a Dragon....

Kalvarn Birk

1. Level designer on Dragon Empires, been with the company too long to mention.
2. It's looking good and it's gonna ROCK!
3. Not really
4. When it's ready
5. Silverback Gorilla

Andrew Shenton

1. I'm a coder and occasional practitioner of martial arts, currently working on the client side combat and effects system.
2. The game is huge in scope and has tremendous potential - it's both exciting and challenging to work on.
3. Not currently due to frustrations with my ISP, at the moment I'm enjoying plodding through NWN.
4. 1st Quarter Next year :)
5. A bat - sleep through the day and scare people at night.

Peter Tyson

1. I'm Peter, from New Zealand originally, (where I got an honours degree), now in the UK. I work as the Community Liaison Manager for Dragon Empires. My place is to move information back and forth! I tell the fans what we are doing, and then I tell the developers what you all think of it :)
2. I think it's great! No only does it look fantastic it's got some really unique approaches to the MMORPG game world. Many of these will become more apparent in beta, but I think people will enjoy the game a lot. Whats more, we've got a great community of fans to make sure we do things right if we step out of line ;)
3. Yes, I sometimes play DAoC, although it's on the back burner to NWN and a bit of Morrowind on my Xbox right now. I've decided to make a scenario based on the movie Yojimbo.
4. Well Ted, in the dev chat, said it would be a cold, snowy beta in the UK. Thats's as much as I know too!
5. A whale. You can talk to people around the world! It'd be like the internet but wetter. And I like the internet.
